The Inspection Report

Every Ovelle is awarded after considering seven pillars that together define the complete hotel experience. These are the observations that shaped this assessment.

Hospitality

Service was smooth and efficient from the moment of arrival. Luggage was collected immediately and delivered to the room within minutes, while check in was completed quickly and without unnecessary formality. The team remained professional throughout, although the experience never developed into something especially personal.

Room and Design

The Beach Terrace room is compact, but the available space has been used intelligently. Storage, coffee facilities and luggage equipment are discreetly concealed, while the terrace gives the room a sense of openness it would otherwise lack. The bathroom is visually striking, although its limited privacy makes this category better suited to couples.

Sleep and Comfort

The bed is exceptionally large, with plush pillows that make it easy to settle in. The air conditioning cools the room quickly and remains simple to control throughout the night. Despite its compact proportions, the room still provides a comfortable and genuinely restful stay.

The Culinary Experience

We did not experience the restaurants, breakfast or room service during this visit. The culinary offering therefore remains an area we would need to explore on a future stay before assessing it properly. For this reason, dining played no meaningful part in the final Ovelle recognition.

The Guest Experience

The terrace is the detail that transforms the experience. Once opened fully, it becomes a second living space overlooking the pool and the greenery woven throughout the property. The filtered water system, Nespresso machine, smart television and generous charging options also make the room practical and easy to live in.

Character and Sense of Place

Pan Pacific Orchard possesses one of Singapore's most distinctive architectural identities. Its interiors and terraces are organised around four natural environments known as Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud, giving each part of the building its own atmosphere. The result feels modern, tropical and unmistakably connected to Singapore's relationship with nature and urban design.

Facilities and Wellbeing

The gym is extensive, well equipped and accessible throughout the day, while the pool sits beautifully within the architecture and surrounding greenery. An outdoor fitness area adds another dimension to the wellness experience. Rather than feeling added afterwards, the facilities appear fully integrated into the life of the building.

Editorial Verdict

Pan Pacific Orchard earns Two Ovelle because its architecture and Beach Terrace experience offer something genuinely distinctive. Few city hotels create such a convincing relationship between structure, greenery and open air living. At night, the illuminated pool and planted terraces transform the view from the room into one of the most memorable parts of the stay.

The main limitation is the room itself. It is intelligently arranged, but noticeably compact, and the open bathroom configuration will not suit every guest. Service was dependable rather than remarkable, and because we did not experience the dining, one of the hotel's most important dimensions remains incomplete.

Two Ovelle recognises a hotel with real identity, impressive architecture and a guest experience shaped by thoughtful design. We would consider returning, although only for the Beach Terrace category or above. The terrace is not merely an additional feature here. It is the element that makes the experience worth seeking out.

The Beach Terrace rooms are what to ask for. The door opens straight onto the planted balcony, a small private edge above a lit garden that quietly reorders the whole room.

Standard rooms are compact and the bathroom is open to the bed with only a partial screen, so if privacy matters or the room is being shared, the Beach Terrace is the answer both to the layout and to the reason for coming.

Pan Pacific Orchard opened in June 2023 on Claymore Road, a step from the retail run of Orchard Road, and it rethinks what a city hotel can be. Rather than a sealed glass block, WOHA cut the tower open into four vast terraces stacked one above another, each a different world.

The terraces are named Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud. Greenery is not applied as decoration but built into the structure, spilling from the open-air voids so the building reads as a hanging garden held up on green columns.

The approach has been recognised well beyond Singapore. In 2024 the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat named it the world's best new tall building, and the hotel holds the Green Mark Platinum rating, among the highest tiers awarded by Singapore's building authority.

The result is a hotel where the public spaces are the event. The terraces, the pool on the Beach level and the planting throughout carry the experience, while the rooms, quieter and more compact, sit within a building that is itself the draw.

A Curious Detail

Rather than designing Pan Pacific Orchard as one continuous tower, its architects divided the building into four distinct vertical environments, with three elevated Sky Terraces functioning almost like gardens suspended above the city. These terraces help break down the scale of the 23 storey building and allow the hotel to feel closer to a tropical resort than a conventional urban tower.
