Terms of Service
The terms on which Carter Beau is offered, written to be read rather than skipped.
Last updated July 2026
Welcome
By accessing or purchasing from this website you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms form a legal agreement between you and Carter Beau, and they do not affect the statutory rights you hold as a consumer.
1. Eligibility
By using this site you confirm that you are of legal age in your jurisdiction to enter into a binding contract, or that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to do so. You agree to provide accurate and complete information at all times.
2. Products and availability
We offer two kinds of product. The printed editions of L'Atelier are physical goods, sent to you by post. The Compendium is a digital product, delivered to you online. Our print editions are produced in limited numbers and may sell out quickly. Availability is confirmed only when your order is accepted and you receive an order confirmation email. We reserve the right to limit quantities, refuse any order, and discontinue products at any time.
3. Pricing, currency, and taxes
The printed editions of L'Atelier are priced and charged in pounds sterling (GBP). The Compendium is priced and charged in US dollars (USD), as shown at checkout before you pay. Any other currency shown on the site is an indicative estimate only, and the amount actually charged is the one confirmed at checkout in the product's own currency. Prices may change at any time until your order is accepted. Where applicable, taxes and duties are charged at checkout. International customers are responsible for any import duties, customs charges, or taxes levied by their local authority.
4. Pre-orders
From time to time we may offer pre-orders. When you place a pre-order you authorise us to charge your payment method at the time of order. Any stated launch or dispatch date is an estimate. If a material delay occurs we will contact you using the email provided on your order, and you may request a cancellation before dispatch if you no longer wish to proceed.
5. Orders and contract formation
Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we send an order confirmation email. We may decline an order for any reason, including suspected fraud, an inability to obtain payment authorisation, or stock limitations. If we decline your order after payment, we will issue a prompt refund to your original payment method.
6. Shipping and delivery
Shipping applies only to the printed editions of L'Atelier. The digital Compendium is delivered online and carries no delivery charge. We send printed editions by Royal Mail with tracking, as described in our Shipping Policy. Delivery within the United Kingdom is free. Delivery to destinations outside the United Kingdom is charged at a flat rate of £9.95. Delivery timeframes are estimates and are not guaranteed. Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery to the address you provide. For international orders, customs processing may extend delivery times and may require you to pay import charges before delivery.
7. Cancellations, returns, and refunds
If you are a consumer, you may cancel an order for a printed edition within fourteen days, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The period runs from the day after you receive your edition. To cancel, email us at contact@carterbeau.com within that period with your order number. You then have a further fourteen days to return the edition, unused and in its original condition. For a change of mind, the cost of return postage is yours. We refund the price you paid, together with the cost of the least expensive standard delivery we offer, within fourteen days of receiving the edition back or of your proof of return, whichever is sooner. The limited nature of our editions does not remove this cancellation right.
The Compendium is a digital product. At checkout you consent to it being made available to you immediately and acknowledge that, once access has begun, the fourteen-day cancellation right no longer applies. This does not affect your rights if digital content is faulty or not as described.
Separately from any change of mind, if an order arrives faulty, damaged, or is sent in error, please contact us at contact@carterbeau.com with your order number and, where possible, photographs of the item and its packaging. We will arrange a replacement, repair, or refund as appropriate and cover the cost of return in those cases. Our Refund Policy sets this out in full. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
8. Accuracy of information
We aim for accuracy, yet errors may occur, including typographical mistakes, inaccuracies, or omissions relating to product descriptions, pricing, or availability. We reserve the right to correct any errors and to change or update information at any time without prior notice, including after you have submitted your order, provided that your statutory rights are not affected.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this site, including text, images, graphics, logos, and layouts, is owned by or licensed to Carter Beau and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, display, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use consistent with the intended purpose of the site.
10. User content and conduct
If you submit any content, including reviews or messages, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, and display that content in connection with our services. You must not upload or share unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, or misleading content, nor interfere with the operation of the site or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems or data.
11. Third-party services
The site may contain links to third-party sites or services, such as payment processors or shipping providers. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third parties. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and is subject to their terms and privacy policies.
12. Privacy and data protection
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. For any privacy request, contact contact@carterbeau.com.
13. Promotions and gift cards
Promotions are subject to the specific terms stated at the time of the offer and may be withdrawn at our discretion. Unless otherwise stated, promotions cannot be combined. If we offer gift cards, they are redeemable only on this site, have no cash value, and are subject to any additional terms presented at purchase.
14. Communications and electronic records
You consent to receive communications from us electronically and agree that all notices, disclosures, and other communications we provide electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
15. Our responsibility to you
We take care over the editions we make and the descriptions we publish. Where you deal with us as a consumer, you have the benefit of legal rights that goods will be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described, and that digital content will meet the same standards. We do not exclude or limit any of these rights, and nothing in these terms is intended to affect the statutory protections you hold as a consumer.
16. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for any breach of your statutory rights as a consumer, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time your order was accepted, nor for business losses where you are dealing with us as a consumer, and our total liability for any claim relating to a product will not exceed the amount you paid for that product.
17. Force majeure
We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, acts of government, labour disputes, utility failures, or disruptions to transportation or communications networks. This does not affect your right to a refund where we are unable to supply what you have ordered.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we agree to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country in which you live, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Changes do not apply retrospectively to orders already accepted. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
