Compare Two Hotels
Any two stays from the collection, set against each other across the seven pillars of the Ovelle standard.
Rosewood Hong Kong is best understood through the moments that shaped the stay. From the first welcome to life above the harbour, the rhythm of a day within the hotel and the quiet reluctance of the final morning, each chapter reveals why the experience remains so vivid long after departure.
One of the defining hotel experiences in the world. The combination of architecture, dining, service and the infinity pool creates an unforgettable stay.
Hospitality
What stays with you most is how naturally the team makes you feel recognised. Max’s welcome set the tone beautifully, while Silvia and Hugo added a warmth that felt genuine rather than rehearsed. Even simple requests were handled quickly and with a level of care that made the whole stay feel personal.
The service felt polished from the moment we arrived. Our luggage was collected immediately, check in was offered several hours early, and the team arranged an upgrade to the thirty ninth floor with genuine warmth. Small moments, especially the care shown by Raymond when helping with our luggage after departure, made the hospitality feel personal rather than purely efficient.
Room and Design
The Harbour View room feels more like a private residence than a hotel suite. Loro Piana fabrics, contemporary art, fine leather and carefully chosen finishes give the space real depth. Then there is the view, which changes the entire room and makes it difficult to look anywhere else.
The room felt large, modern and beautifully connected, with the wardrobe, bathroom and living space flowing naturally into one another. The curtains opening automatically onto the skyline created a memorable first impression, while Diptyque amenities, a Dyson hairdryer, SMEG kettle, cocktail cabinet and carefully designed lighting gave the room real depth. Even the smaller details felt considered, from the branded bath bombs to the extensive minibar and tea service.
Sleep and Comfort
The bed is one of those details you remember long after leaving. The pillows are soft without losing support, and the room has a calmness that makes it easy to switch off. The air conditioning could cool a little faster, but the sleep itself was exceptional.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with excellent pillows and a calm atmosphere that made it easy to rest after a long day in the city. Lighting controls were simple and intuitive, with reading, dim and brighter settings available from the bedside. The room felt both spacious and restful, which is not always easy to achieve in a hotel of this scale.
The Culinary Experience
Dining at Rosewood feels confident without trying too hard. Holt’s Café was a real highlight, especially the prawn toast and barbecue pork rice, while Legacy House offered a more refined take on Cantonese dining. DarkSide then brings everything together with atmosphere, music and a real sense of occasion.
Dining was consistently strong throughout the stay. The chicken wings were among the best we have experienced, while the nasi lemak, lemon tart and bean sprout salad all arrived beautifully presented and full of flavour. At the rooftop, the club sandwich, fries and octopus salad were equally enjoyable, and the pricing felt surprisingly reasonable for a hotel of this stature.
The Guest Experience
The experience feels considered from the very beginning. The upgrade, champagne, cookies, fresh fruit, personalised pillow and responsive hotel chat all create the sense that someone has thought carefully about how your stay should unfold. Nothing feels overdone, yet very little feels forgotten.
Marina Bay Sands understands how to create a sense of occasion. The early check in, high floor upgrade, complimentary chocolates, custom coasters and the ability to continue using the pool after checkout all made the stay feel generous. More than anything, the hotel gives you the feeling that you are somewhere important, and for a night, it is very easy to feel like the city belongs to you.
Character and Sense of Place
Rosewood Hong Kong could not simply be placed in another city and feel the same. The art, architecture and interiors all draw something from Victoria Harbour and from Hong Kong itself. It feels polished and contemporary, but never so polished that it loses warmth or personality.
Few hotels are as closely tied to their city as Marina Bay Sands. The building has become part of Singapore’s identity, and the room, rooftop and skyline views all remind you exactly where you are. It is bold, theatrical and unmistakable, yet the experience still manages to feel personal once you are inside it.
Facilities and Wellbeing
The facilities are not about size for the sake of it. The pool is relatively intimate, but the harbour view turns it into something memorable. The gym, sauna, hot pool and Asaya spaces all continue the same feeling of calm, making it easy to slow down even while the city moves around you.
The infinity pool is the defining feature and remains the finest hotel pool we have experienced. Swimming above the skyline during the day is memorable, but the experience becomes even more remarkable at night when the city lights reflect across the water. The gym itself was well equipped and professionally staffed, although its location in a separate building made it less convenient than the rest of the hotel.
